Playing With Fabrics & A New Notion!!!

Well, I’m just tickled pink to tell you that I was able to get a fancy new rotary cutter!
If you remember – a couple weeks ago I told you about this awesome new rotary cutter I tested out and watched a demo for at Quilt Market.  Above you see the new Olfa “Splash” rotary cutter.  Not only is it a beautiful shade of aqua, it cuts like a dream and still has the same great quality that I love about Olfa Cutters.
(Also pictured above is my awesome new BOM I received from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop – I just love their BOM’s – always great fabrics and always enough fabric to get the job done!)

Isn’t it pretty!

Here you will see the major improvement to this new rotary cutter.  The shape of the handle.  Instead of the standard flat handle, there is now a gentle curve and it fits and feels so good in your hand.
The new cutter also has the same great “quick change” blade system that I love!  And this cutter is for right handed or left handed folks!
Yeah Olfa!  You did awesome with this new notion!
Be sure and ask at your local quilt shop or favorite online quilt shop for the new Olfa “Splash” rotary cutter – you will not be disappointed!
And I have not talked much about Miss Bella lately.  Here she is in all her funny glory.  She was sunning herself in my kitchen window and watching the birds and our newest pet – Miss Dalilah came up next to her! I snapped this picture at just the right time – they appear to be kissing!  How cute is that!
Have a great weekend everyone!

It’s Dear Jane Day!!! Yippee!

Today is one of my favorite days of the month!  It’s my Dear Jane Club meeting!!
Here’s some pictures I took at last months meeting: (please excuse them not being the best photos in the world!  I’m terrible at taking pics on my cell phone!~)
One of the gals in the club is already putting her quilt together!  I’m so behind on mine but it doesn’t bother me at all!  This is a very long term project for me – no rush at all!
These are Prairie Pockets and their is a pattern to make them!  These are designed by Pam Buda my sweet friend of Heartspun Quilts!

This quilt is gorgeous!  I forgot to get the name of it – I’m pretty sure there is a pattern available for it.  You can contact The Quilt Merchant by visiting their website – I’m sure they will ship you the pattern if you order it!

Are these doll quilts not adorable!  I’m so tempted to join this Doll Quilt Club!
And here are some progress photos of my own Dear Jane Quilt.
Enjoy!

Party Of 12 fabric by Judie Rothermel

Well, Judie has gone and done it again.  She’s created a fabric line that I love everything about. The more I look at these beauties the more I love ’em! I want a bolt of a few of these – isn’t that awful!  I want to hoard some of these away for lots of future designs!
Are these not to die for!  I need more – I want lots and lots of yardage.  Guess I better get off here and get a little work done today so that I can afford to buy more of this before it’s all gone!
Here’s a link to the quilt shop where I order a lot of my fabric bundles from:
Back to work I go!  Happy Quilting!

Scrap bags, gotta love ’em!

With one of my recent orders from Homestead Hearth Quilt Shop, I also ordered one of their “1800’s Only Scrap Bags” of fabric.
Holy Cow! I love every piece that I received!  What is it about scraps of fabric that I just love.  There are some nice size chunks of fabric in these bags all for $9.00!!!  I’ll be ordering more for sure!  Love me some scraps!
Here is a link to the Scrap Bags so you can order one or two or more also!

History Repeated Fabric – gorgeous!

I love this collection of fabric called “History Repeated” by Julie Hendrickson.  The blues and browns are lovely and the shirting prints – oh my!
I ordered my fat quarter bundle from Homestead Hearth – just love that online quilt shop – but I see they are out of the bundles.  They do have yardage left though and I’m thinking I may just have to get yardage on some of these pieces for future projects!
Here is were you can go and view these fabrics:

Tavern Blues Fabric – Yummy!!!

Oh man am I really in love with this collection by Paula Barnes for Marcus Brothers Fabric called Tavern Blues.  They are just so pretty.  I ordered my Fat Quarter bundle from Homestead Hearth and they were so quick in getting it to my greedy fabric hungry fingers!
Kudos to you Homestead Hearth!  Love your service and your quilt shop!
I think I need to order some yardage on some of these prints!

Fun At The Quilt Merchant!

Yesterday I had such a good time at The Dear Jane meeting. We are nearing the end of our sessions – if I would have kept up on making the blocks, my quilt would nearly be finished! That’s ok though – a Dear Jane quilt is a long term project for sure!

Here are some of the outer border blocks done by my neighbor at the club! I’m sorry – I didn’t catch her name, but what a talented gal!

Here is our fearless group leader on the right Miss Valerie! And on the left, the former owner of the quilt shop, Miss Docia!

Here is a beautiful quilt top completed by another Dear Janer that she brought in for show and tell. This was a class/BOM offered at The Quilt Merchant this past year. It’s a pattern by Patchwork by Busyfingers!

Here is one of my pattern designs on display in the shop!

And then here are three of my pennyrug designs on display in the shop! How exciting!

The new owner of The Quilt Merchant is such a sweetheart! She has moved here all the way from France! Her name is Valerie Langue and you can visit her blog here:

Journey Of A Quilt Lover

If you are local (the shop is located in Winfield, IL) stop in and welcome her. If you cannot make it into the shop, visit the website and shop away and be sure to sign up on their email newsletter list for upcoming events, news etc.!

Today is the day on our blog hop for my sweet friend JoAnn Mullaly.  She is such a joy to be around and I only get to see her once a year at Quilt Market! And wow – what a talented designer! She loves to work with wool and the projects she turns out are completely amazing!
Let’s see what she has in store for us today!
Here’s the line up for this spectacular “A Primitive Christmas Blog Hop”  All the links and dates are provided for each of the blogs you will just have to visit to join in on all this fun and excitement!

Acorn Quilt Shop – A sneak peek at my designs

Last weekend while at the Prairie Star Quilters Guild show I was in a vendors booth and low and behold what do I see??
Above is our #415 Spirit Of The Season pattern design!!!
Above is our #418 Bittersweet Blossoms pattern design!
Both of these patterns and the kits that the shop assembled are available through:
Acorn Quilts
6409 East Riverside Blvd.
Rockford, IL 61114
Phone:  815-977-5275
That was so exciting to see both of my designs made up in brighter fabrics!  They were so kind to allow me to take photos to share with you.  If you are interested in either the pattern or the kit – give them a call!

A Lovely Little Surprise

Well, I was a little surprised yesterday with a comment a sweet gal by the name of Marsha left me on my blog!
It seems that I did not read my newest issue of American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine (June 2012) very closely!  Her quilt that she made from one of our patterns is in the I Am A Quilter section on page 16!  Can you say Duh!!!!
Wow! This is so neat!  If you missed this pattern called Two-Piece Puzzle in the April 2010 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting I’m sure you can probably still order back issues or find a copy at an online quilt shop by doing a simple search!
Or you can order the pattern on our website also here:

Or – you can check with Primitive Gatherings up in Menasha, Wisconsin – She has our quilt on display right now and was selling kits for it in the black, red and cream theme that I originally used!  You can view their website here or give them a call at: 1-920-722-7233
Thanks Marsha for sharing this!
